TITLE: Building the Health Services Virtual Organization: Lessons and Opportunities
PRESENTER: Bruce Spencer
NRC, Fredericton, New Brunswick
ABSTRACT:

Between May 2008 and Feb 2011 Canarie.ca funded the Health Services Virtual Organization, www.hsvo.ca, to develop a network enabled platform for delivering health services. The HSVO is made up of people from health education, optical network research, share reality research, and software engineering. The platform, in trials by health educators for a year, delivers health education to medical students from four teaching hospitals. In this talk we discuss lessons learned by the NRC Fredericton team who built SAVOIR-2, the middleware on which the HSVO depends. We will also discuss SAVOIR's future as a generic application framework that connects arbitrary tools and devices with user-scripted workflows.
