ABSTRACT:

Autonomy and autonomous vehicles are part of a global transformation of naval forces. Currently, there is a proliferation of autonomous vehicles allowing the military to conduct missions with significantly improved effectiveness while minimizing human risks. We will provide two examples where autonomous vehicles are ideal candidates. As part of a technology investment fund proposal at Defence Research Development Canada – Centre for Operational Research and Analysis, we will present some ideas on how to examine the benefits of employing many autonomous vehicles simultaneously and collaboratively.
