TITLE: Error Correction for English and Romanian Texts
PRESENTER: Diana Inkpen
University of Ottawa
ABSTRACT:

I will present an unsupervised method that automatically detects and corrects a text containing multiple errors of both syntactic and semantic nature. The method can deal with a large number of errors. Error types include, but are not limited to: spelling errors, real-word spelling errors, typographical errors, unwanted words, missing words, prepositional errors, punctuation errors, and many of the grammatical errors (e.g., errors in agreement and verb formation). The method works for any language for which Google n-grams are available. Evaluation experiments for English and for Romanian will be presented.
