TITLE: | The Role of Named Entities in Text Classification |
PRESENTER: | Quintin Armour University of Ottawa |
ABSTRACT:
At present, no distinction is made in an attribute list as to whether the element is a named entity or a regular term. This distinction is important since datasets can be more dependent on one type of attribute than the other for a particular classification task. The effects of using attribute lists that contain named entities will be discussed, as will the pros and cons of different named entity representations. Finally, the validity of current research methods that do not take these effects into account will be called into question. |
