TITLE: Hybrid AI for Legislation: from theoretical model to empirical use-cases
PRESENTER: Monica Palmirani
University of Bologna, Italy
ABSTRACT:

The talk will present the ERC HyperModeLex in the foundation, research questions, and the main theoretical issues. The recent LLM and generative AI have been creating opportunities and risks that the AI and Law community should address in respect of the theory of law, the Rule of Law, and the digital transformation of society. If these AI techniques are applied in the Parliamentary environment, it is required additional precaution and constant monitoring for guaranteeing democratic principles, transparency, and explicability. A hybrid AI approach is necessary for mitigating the risks and in the meantime fostering the potentialities of the technical evolution in the legislative domain. The talk aims also to enter deep into several use cases developed in the last two years with the cooperation of Parliaments, EU institutions, and Official Gazettes.
