TITLE: A Canadian in Texas

ABSTRACT:

This informal talk is a meandering tour of my research in knowledge-based systems at the University of Texas at Austin. I will describe my position at the University, my research team and my research program. I will give a high-level overview of the projects I have worked on, including systems for capturing knowledge of Molecular Biology, critiquing military courses of action and taking an entrance exam in Chemistry. Finally, I will talk about a huge new research initiative bringing together leading researchers from all walks of AI to work together on a single intelligent system.
